Through this small activity, it was concluded that a the device carrying current can produce a magnetic field around them. Further, to investigate the properties of electromagnets, they created their small electromagnets in a class. They wound an insulated copper wire around the iron nail to form a coil and connected their free ends to the terminals of the battery. They also experimented the ways to change their strength to pick up more paper clips by increasing the number of turns in their coil. Students learnt about ways in which engineers use electromagnets in everyday applications like in designing an electric motor, magnetic gripper n robots, electric bell, etc. Links: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVK8EulvhB4 Chemistry: The month started with a new topic, ‘Water: A Precious Natural Resource’ with the students recapitulating their knowledge about natural resources and their types through a Frayer Model. Nava means "Nine" and Rasa is often translated as "mood", "emotion", "expression" or "sentiment". The Navarasa, in the scriptures refer to the nine expressions that humans often show. These are love (shringaara), laughter (haasya), kind-heartedness or compassion (karuna), anger (roudra), courage (veera), fear (bhayaanaka), disgust (veebhatsya), wonder or surprise (adbhutha) and peace or tranquility (shaanta). Students learnt the definition of above mentioned 5 Ws and applied their knowledge to write a story in class. The 5 Ws: In investigative writing and research, the five Ws are used to gather information about a story or subject matter. In fact, most writers don't consider a story to be complete unless all five of the Ws have been addressed. The five Ws are who, what, when, where, and why. These questions words allow students, writers, and researchers to understand the full scope of the topic being discussed and enable critical thinking. Many of these words can be used in interrogation to tease out the information. Students also did a role play ‘The Good Night Princess’ written by D. M. Larson in a Class Activity. Through this performance, students understood stage management, how to use props, how to arrange cast and how to double cast and coordinate, etc. Role Play- When it comes to theatre, role playing is a fundamental skill that allows actors to be successful in their roles. Role play allows an actor to step into the shoes of a character. This may sound easy, but it isn't necessarily a natural process. It's a skill that requires a lot of practice before an actor can do it comfortably and well.
