Ambedkar Suncity School, 37D Gurugram marked the 73rd Republic Day by conducting a special assembly across Grades Pre Nursery - IX with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The assembly commenced with flag unfurling ceremony in our school grounds. Post that the rest of the assembly was conducted virtually and the reading of the Constitution, knowing the significance of the Preamble, apprising students about the contribution made by Sh. B.R. Ambedkar and facts about the Constitution of India were the high lights of the assembly The students of Grade V & VI enthralled the audience with their mellifluous patriotic songs. Students of Grade I took pride in the legacy of our freedom fighters, dressed up as them , and reverberated their message by chanting their famous slogans. Keeping the spirit of patriotism alive, Grade VII- VIII students expressed love for their motherland through self created short videos. The assembly concluded with the address of Principal, Ms. Guneet Ohri who emphasised on understanding and implementing the Preamble in its true sense. She urged the students to put their best foot forward and feel proud to be an Indian. They dispersed with the image of the fluttering tricolor in their mind and heart. Mathematics ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSIONS: The mathematics session began by checking previous knowledge of Algebra and related terms like – Constants, Terms, Coefficients, Variables etc in an Expression through the day–to–day examples along with an interesting video. Students gave various examples where they formed expressions like – Computing age, Patterns etc. using matchsticks. With the help of diagrams and presentations, students explained the structure of the heart. They understood that the blood in humans enters and leaves the heart twice and so it is termed as Double Circulation. They brainstormed about the need for the removal of metabolic waste from the body and the role of skin, lungs, kidneys for this function. We discussed different Cyber Tools, Cyber Threats & Security. The class was divided into groups and they created a presentation in collaboration to present in the class like Cybercrimes Against an Individual Person, Cybercrimes Against Property and Cybercrimes Against Organisation/Society. Social ScienceHistory- New Political Formations of 18th century The topic was introduced with a timeline of the ‘Decline of the Mughal Empire’. Reasons for the decline of the Mughal empire were discussed and students were asked to correlate the incidents of this period and the emergence of the new states. Students observed the Map of New Empires of the 18th century and gained knowledge about the extent of each empire. Stories of the great rulers like Shiva Ji and Raja Sawai Jai Singh and their contribution was shared. Knowledge of the Marathi Administration and the military was done as a case study. Reflections were recorded in the form of a Nearpod Quiz. Civics- Types of Market As the topic was already completed, students submitted a project related to the cooperatives society of India. They were assigned one topic of Cooperative Society and were asked to prepare a PPT comprising of logo, objective, working and problems faced. Questions were discussed from the chapter-end exercises for better understanding and a worksheet was explained and shared as a reflection exercise. _____ Geo.- Life in Tropical and Sub-tropical Regions While using the Visible Thinking Strategy- ‘What Makes you Say That’ the topic was explained in detail to students. With the help of Mapmaker Interactive- Amazon Basin was shown to students to understand the location of the Amazon Basin. To make them understand and gain knowledge about climate, natural vegetation, wildlife, and life of the people, a video and some images were shown to students. Some images related to vegetation and wildlife were also shown for better understanding with followed up discussion. The same video was continued to discuss the Ganga Brahmaputra Basin. With the help of Mapmaker Interactive, students were able to locate the same. They also analyzed the comparative study of both the basins based on climate, natural vegetation, wildlife, and the life of people there. Some images related to vegetation and wildlife were shared with them for better understanding. While exploring different facts about Amazon and Ganga Brahmaputra Basin, they were able to correlate the facts to the previous chapter's external process of changing landforms and water as an agent. In grammar, they recapitulated their knowledge of ‘Prepositions’ through a direction giving activity in small teams. Grammar Plus Exercises, a recap of rules and online grammar games enabled them to strengthen the concept. They primarily focused on the differentiation of the application of ‘Since/For’ and demonstrated their learning while attempting a worksheet about the same in the class. This was followed by peer checking. The revision of the creative writing topic-‘Newspaper Report Writing’ was done at length, including Grammar Plus questions, tips, specific feedback and study of a few samples as reference. The students learnt to write first drafts, edit them and proofread the same. The same process was followed to revise the topic- ‘Notice Writing’. Besides this, students filled out a reading reflection form for Term II- ‘Are You a Reader?’ and talked about their reading habits, genres, likes & dislikes. The month concluded with the completion of comprehension exercises in Grammar Plus and peer checking. FrenchStudents were happy to come back from a relaxing winter vacation. They were introduced to body parts along with videos to help them understand the expressions related to health. Composition: Creative & freehand Art Technique: Free hand, colouring, outlining Learning Outcome: Development of observatory and motor skills, how the motor skills change when introduced to similar art forms like music. Art tools : Pencil, sketch pen, crayons, oil pastels, acrylic colour SDG : 15 – Life on Land Life Skills“ANGER is only one letter short of DANGER”. Anger is a normal and healthy emotion. But it is important to deal with it in a positive way. Students learnt that before reacting to a situation, one must be aware of the impact it will have. Students understood how to deal with anger in an effective way. Techniques like deep breathing, positive thinking, exercise, walking away, diverting yourself, drinking water, listening to music, doing something creative--dance or draw, meditation, talking about your anger, responding and not reacting were taught to students with demo wherever required. Students got the chance to discuss their anger in detail and all the sessions were very interactive. Sample situations were given and students were asked about their reaction in a particular situation; this helped them to think deeply about their anger and consequences.
